While it's important to stand on the shoulders of those who came before you, there is always an opportunity to improve on what is available to us. Small-scale prototypes get people testing design ideas with minimal investment, quickly and efficiently revealing what works and what may need to be tweaked in the final workplace design.
Meta has gorgeous Frank Gehry office buildings at their Menlo Park HQ. But the high ceilings and industrial interiors generated an audio and visual noise problem. I led a team of strategists and designers to create a new workspace prototype and a process for testing it against designs from other design firms.
